In The Beacon, Romans 5:4, I intended to create a visual dialogue between the volatile energy of the sea and the steadfast nature of hope. The lighthouse stands as a sentinel of perseverance, enduring the violent spray and the crushing weight of the dark tide, which for me represents the "sufferings" and "trials" of life. By focusing on the moment a wave shatters against the stone, I wanted to emphasize that character is forged not in calm waters, but in the midst of the storm. The warm, singular glow from the lantern room is the focal point of the narrative—a light that signifies the "hope that does not disappoint." Through the heavy texture of the churning foam and the deep, cool shadows of the surrounding cliffs, I hope the viewer feels the strength required to stand firm and the quiet victory found in remaining an unshakeable light against the darkness.
