“MAGIC CARPET SUNSET, PSALM 136:26” by Thomas Kegler

In Moored at Sunset, Psalm 136:26, I sought to capture the profound intersection of the physical landscape and the divine. As the day yields to the approaching night, the stillness of the water reflects a quietude that I find deeply spiritual. The central vessel, stripped of its sails and tethered to the shore, serves as a metaphor for the human soul finding rest. My focus was the luminous burst of gold within the clouds; I wanted that light to feel less like a weather event and more like a celestial response to the verse "Give thanks to the God of heaven, for his steadfast love endures forever." Through a limited, warm palette of ochres and deep oranges, I hope to invite the viewer into this space of gratitude and silent contemplation.
