“CONTRAPPOSTO IN WARM LIGHT” by David Mueller

There are many times where when setting up a model in various poses....., where one finds, the more that you actually try to direct the model to do something, the less interesting and more unnatural it becomes. I have found over the years the best direction is no direction at all to the model. I pretend that I am mixing colors on the palette or otherwise distracted and occasionally glance back at the model. Inevitably, I see something beautiful that they have done all on their own. I ask them to freeze in place... It is this pause in natural movement that I try to capture. And in this case, the beautiful warm light and square composition, I found very effective and pleasing aesthetically. I have also made part of this art a very unique presentation which I am playing with variations of more and more. This piece is almost a combination of art and accent furniture. I found this particular shape and color of frame provides a beautiful window into the image but also creates a 3 dimensional aspect to it on the wall. A very warm homey effect. It pleases my sensibilities, very much, and I hope maybe that of others as well.
