“CHIEF JOSEPH” by Coila Evans

This is a study created in preparation for a larger 20” x 16” piece. Based on a black and white photograph, it introduces subtle color to bring him to life. I painted it while listening to Chief Joseph and the Flight of the Nez Perce - an important part of my practice when painting subjects like this.
