"AN UNFORGIVING LAND" by Kasey Nixon

This piece depicts a bighorn ram I encountered deep in the Frank Church Wilderness in Idaho in 2022. As I worked my way down the trail, I noticed movement above me in a craggy draw. A look through my binoculars revealed this ram playing king of the hill on some boulders with a younger ram. This painting shows how he looked when I first put eyes on him. The title denotes the immensity and brutal terrain of the Frank Church where this old ram carved out a difficult existence.
