The pursuit of creating beautifully crafted imagery has been in my life from as far back as I can remember. It's the type of cause that never gets old. I’m always searching for my best painting which can only come through constant practice that keeps me motivated, day after day, year after year.

Born 1957 in Millbrae California, I was submersed in the arts from a very early age due to both my parents being practicing artists. My dad made his primary living as an Art Director, first in New York ( One of the original MadMen ) and then various agencies in San Francisco . On weekends and evenings he would moonlight as a fine arts wood carver, many of which are in fine collections today. My mother was more craft oriented creating custom patterned quilts and afghans, most of which were for magazine articles in publication such as “Better Homes and Gardens”.
As mentioned, creativity was always present in our home, so when it came time for me to get serious about the rest of life , there was little question of what I wanted to major in college. My first degree earned was an AA in Commercial Art in1978, concluding with a BFA in Visual Communications in 1982, via California State University, Long Beach.
Upon graduating, I took my portfolio on the road interviewing with as many of the top Design firms of Los Angeles I could get into. The early 80's were an exciting time, working on many high level accounts ( Apple computers, the 84 LA Olympics, etc. ) all the while, soaking up as much experience as I could. After six intense years of seeing how the industry ran, I decided it was time to venture out on my own, founding my own firm, CDA / Curry Design Agency out of Santa Monica, CA.
From 1988 to 2001, the Curry Design Agency operated out of Santa Monica California, employing 18 people at the high water mark. We were able to built a strong reputation for doing “high end” work, servicing accounts the likes of; Mercedes Benz, The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences / The Academy Awards, NASA / Jet Propulsion Labs, etc.
Like all good things the corporate part of life ran its course and after 15 years it was time for a change. In 2001, I decided to pursue painting on a full time basis, selling the big house in the Pacific Palisades and moving to the beautiful community of Ojai, CA.
After 24 years, the Ojai Valley continues to yield unlimited visual resources, inspiring the documentation of nature's visual treasures by way of paint on linen, a classic medium that has been around for centuries and is not likely to change anytime soon.
